Professional Resume Writing

There is no other thing than a resume that is professionally written that is going to get that job for you. It does not mean that you don’t need professionalism, skills, experiences etc.: It simply means that a professionally written resume is the way to enhance what you have already achieved.

We are giving away a proven effective 10-step plan for professional resume writing in the following. This is the plan used by many resume writing services that charge you for writing your resume professionally. Here is your opportunity to learn and then put to practice the art yourself.

Step 1:

Begin writing your resume with an attractive layout and use italics and bold to highlight key points in order to achieve a more professional look.

Step 2:

Left aligning the text is not a good idea. Instead justify the text.

Step 3:

Don’t write your resume using different fonts. Arial, Verdana, and Times New Roman are some of the best fonts for a resume as they are enough spaced for an easy read.

Step 4:

Never ever use the word “I” in your resume. Instead, use a powerful verb to start each sentence.

Step 5:

It is very important to stick to the capitalization and punctuation rules. If you do not understand standard capitalization and punctuation rule, use a reference manual.

Step 6:

List only the year in which you obtained your degree when it comes to mentioning your degree.

Step 7:

If your writing software makes the web addresses and e-mail address a clickable link, don’t forget to deactivate them in your resume and your cover letter.

Step 8:

Don’t be inconsistent e.g. don’t list the date as 1/2001 at one place and 8/12/2002 at another.

Step 9:

When you apply to a position, make sure that your resume is enclosed with a proper cover letter. A resume without an appropriate cover letter is never considered a professional resume. It is a vital part of a professional-looking resume.

Step 10:

You can use the grammar and spell check function of your writing software, but don’t rely on it. Once you have done that, take the print out of your resume and cover letter and read it aloud, word by word. This practice will help you see any mistakes that were not seen by your eyes and the spell and grammar check function of your writing software before.
